Nine Free Testing Locations Available Today, Changes to Come for Holiday Weekend

Before gathering with family over the Easter holiday weekend, residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free COVID-19 testing available today, April 1, at nine different locations. They include sites in Cary, Holly Springs, Raleigh, Wake Forest, Wendell and Zebulon.

All Wake County Public Health testing locations will close for the holiday from Friday, April 2, to Sunday, April 4. Other providers offering COVID-19 testing throughout the county can be found using the Test Site Finder on the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services website.

All Wake County Public Health testing will resume Monday, April 5, with the exception the Wendell Community Park site, which will be closed on Monday but return on Tuesday, April 6, offering free testing to all residents seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Another change coming Monday involves the Departure Drive location in northeast Raleigh. That six-day-a-week testing location will be moving across the street to a church parking lot at 5808 Departure Drive and offer expanded hours

The following is a comprehensive list of permanent testing locations resuming next week:

• Zebulon Community Park
  401 S. Arendell Ave., Zebulon
  Seven days a week, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Swinburne Parking Lot
  2845 Kidd Road, Raleigh
  Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Radeas Labs
  907 Gateway Commons Circle, Wake Forest
  Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Vision Church RDU Parking Lot
  5808 Departure Drive, Raleigh
  Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Wendell Community Park (resuming April 6)
  601 W. 3rd St., Wendell
  Seven days a week, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition, more local parks will begin a new schedule next week, offering free testing weekly from Thursday through Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in rotating locations. These convenient sites make it easy for people who live in these communities to get tested. All sites are free, and residents do not need an appointment, insurance or ID. All sites will offer walk-up testing for anyone who does not have a car.

Finally, on Saturday, April 10, from 10 a.m.–noon, free testing is available at Pleasant Grove Carver Center at 948 Morphus Bridge Road in Wendell. This event will be paired with food distribution and community resources for families.

How do we test? Several tents and lanes will be set up in each park, and you’ll pull up to them in your car. Staff will hand you a short swab, and you’ll be asked to circle it around in the lower part of your nose several times. Then, you’ll put the swab in a vial and hand it back to staff.

How do I get my results? You’ll be given a card with information about how to go online or sign up for an email to get your results. Most results return within 24–48 hours.
